AlertUR

AlertUR is the University's emergency notification system. In the event of an emergency, alerts are sent to the University community by 电话 call, 短信, 或电子邮件. All students and employees are automatically enrolled with their University email address. You can opt to provide other contact information by logging in to the system with your NetID.

Cellular and Data Plans

大学教师, 工作人员, and students can receive discounted plans through two major cellular providers, Verizon和AT&T. There are plans for both devices used for University business and personal use. The discounts also extend to 平板电脑 and hotspot data plans and international data plans.

Domain Name System (DNS)

The Domain Name System (DNS) translates computer names to Internet Protocol addresses. This naming structure makes it easier to access resources on the Internet or University network. Departments can apply for use of DNS to support their computers' network connections.

Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)

Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol automatically configures the necessary settings when connecting a computer to the network. It allows you to more easily connect your computer to the University network from any participating UR location. Departments can apply for use of DHCP to support their computers' connection to the University network.

Tele电话 and voicemail service is offered to faculty and 工作人员 with full support from 大学这. 它们是有线的, 无线, and multimedia IP 电话 options for remote workers capable of managing multiple lines and providing features like call transferring and call forwarding.

The University firewall maintains the security and proper functioning of the University network by filtering out unwanted traffic. Departmental firewall service includes design consultation, 安装, 升级, and 24/7 monitoring and support.

Pagers are available to faculty and 工作人员 who need to be reached quickly and reliably around the University and in the 罗彻斯特 area. 分页 is an inexpensive, reliable alternative to cellular tele电话s for short messages and alerts.

A Virtual Private 网络 (VPN) is used to access restricted University resources from off campus through a secured Internet connection. 教师, 工作人员, and students with a current, active relationship with the University can use VPN. University resources that do not require VPN to access remotely include email, SharePoint, and most library resources.

ResNet

ResNet is the wired residential network at River Campus, 伊士曼生活中心, 书穿越, 南校区, and Riverview Apartments.

Stream2

Stream2 service is now available on all University of 罗彻斯特 networks! Stream2 is an IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) service from Apogee that allows you watch live TV and sports from your computer, 平板电脑, 电话, 苹果电视, Roku and Amazon Firestick. This service allows you access to your favorite shows from anywhere on campus.

学生 can request in-room tele电话 and voicemail service if they live in a residence hall. In-room 电话 service includes tele电话 and voicemail, 5-digit on-campus calling, 免费本地电话, 800号电话, and 24-hour help and information.

UR有线电视

The UR有线电视 Service has been upgraded to include a new high definition channel lineup. Users should re-program their TVs to find the new channels that are listed below.
